THE land of Ponente was a dangerous one. Even one such as Rhian Cadwalader, leader of the resistance, felt on edge whenever she visited the land. She was not a complete stranger to the nation, as she'd been there several times before - but she was still not used to the uneasy feeling that naturally overcame here when she was there. However, this time around her nerves were overworked for different reasons than the normal ones. Currently, she was pacing about a small room that an acquaintance was letting her stay in for the duration of her trip. She shouldn't have been alone, though, as she was waiting on somebody.
THAT somebody was Caolan, her second-in-command. He was supposed to have met with her earlier that evening but had yet to show up, which caused her quite a bit of worry. After all, he knew a lot of information that her enemies would love to get their hands on; the fact that he was (hopefully) momentarily missing spelled trouble for her. And, she supposed, she was also concerned for his well-being. She wouldn't quite consider him a friend, but she had chosen him to be her trusted right hand man which spoke volumes about her thoughts on the man. Rhian saw the potential in him - his sword fighting skills, thirst for revenge, and eagerness to prove his worth - and figured that, regardless of any personal opinions, he was best fit for the job.
THEY'D known each other for near on eight years and had worked closely together for six of those. So, even if she couldn't say they were friends okay, maybe they were slightly friends, she had grown used to having him around. Plus, even if he was a lazy shit most of the time he knew not to show up late when they had an appointed meeting time. If Caolan didn't show up soon she may have to take matters into her own hands and track him down. On the other hand, if he did show up he'd earn a good wallop upside the head. His only option was to show up, though, as she really didn't have a back-up in mind for his position.
