Allard rarely ever had the chance to just settle in his homeland, often travelling to and fro, from nation to nation, just to keep up with work and contract opportunities. Though bitter and unforgiving to most, Le Sud was his wonderland. He loved the snow, the cold, the simple yet strong capital. He often got homesick and just needed a break to return and recuperate. Especially when healing was required. He supposed a large slash across his chest required some form or rest, despite how little he thought it was necessary. Surely he could continue on without any trouble, he honestly had no doubt about it. But why waste the opportunity for a little break when you had one? Of course, after years of being away from home, he had to admit things aren't as amazing as they once were. Or maybe he just came at a bad time. Regardless, the stares seemed much more colder than usual. Almost as if they had thought he was a stranger. He'd shrugged it off though, deciding to loosen up at his favorite tavern. He was sure he'd meet some of his old buddies who could perhaps fill him in. Allard smirked at the thought, tail wagging a bit as he made his way up the icy slope and towards the warmer destination, not at all hesitating in making himself comfortable and ordering himself the best wine they had to offer. "Come on! Don't be shy! Allard needs a warm welcome!" he announced, by no means shy or worried by the annoyed stares that shot towards the loud wolf. No, his eyes shot to the nearest dame, catching her attention and giving her a charming smirk. "Why don't you come over here and warm me up a bit, beautiful?" he suggested with a chuckle, sitting back comfortably and saving a seat on his lap for her. The young woman simply smiled back before strolling over, hands on her hips as she leaned in slightly to address him. "Now why would I want to do that? We don't serve stray mutts." she returned sharply, Allard's ears perking a bit in surprised before he rolled his eyes, an amused smile gracing his lips. "Feisty as always, Claudia." he chimed back, apparently knowing the woman whom didn't seem quite as amused as the male. "What's got you so bitter today?" he asked, taking a big gulp of his drink. "I'm not bitter." she retorted. "And even if I were, I have every right to be. Where's the gold you owe me?" she scolded, the wolf's ears lowering a bit as the realization occurred to him. Now he remembered why he'd been avoiding the place for so long. He actually owed many debts here in town. Was that why everyone was glaring? He smiled a bit sheepishly at the thought, scratching the back of his head. "OH! That gold?" he feigned. "Of course! I remember now." he chuckled, Claudia crossing her arms with an impatient look on her face. "See... The thing is, I'll have to put it on my tab, along with this lovely wine. I don't have the money on me right now." he lied. He could pay her. But he certainly didn't have enough to pay for the entire town. And once they saw him returning her debt, they'll be after him for more handouts. After that news, she had grabbed his wine and pulled it out of his reach, Allard pouting a bit at losing his drink. "No money, no service. You've been holding out for too long, bastard." she continued, getting a bit more personal now. He winced at the thought. She obviously wasn't pleased with his cheating her out. He threw his head back and groaned before reaching in his satchel and grabbing his money pouch. "You can be a real bitch, you know that?" he muttered before pulling out part of the debt he owed her, dropping it in her hand. "Don't tell anyone else I'm giving handouts. I'll be swarmed." he pleaded with a chuckle, ears perking once more as she planted a kiss on his cheek. "Nice to have ya back, dog. Don't stay away so long." she smiled, handing him his drink before strolling off to count her payment. "How about I make it up and we share a room tonight?" he called to her, only being waved off as she disappeared around a corner. Allard shook his head in disbelief, just as amused as he was annoyed. Oh well. At least he knew his home town wasn't so bad as he'd imagined. Only greedy friends who wanted their money back. He'd get to them eventually. For now though, he simply wanted to enjoy himself. |
